Publication by GFBR fellow Ahmed Samir Abdelhafiz

In a recent blog, GFBR fellow Ahmed Samir Abdelhafiz from the University of Cairo describes how divergent standards of human biobanks in Egypt could limit sharing of valuable biological resources. His full research paper makes recommendations for the development of ethical guidelines for Egyptian biobanks to improve the management and sharing of these resources.

This work results from a travel fellowship awarded to Ahmed after the 2018 GFBR meeting on the Ethics of data sharing and biobanking in health research. His paper is published in Wellcome Open Research with co-authors Calvin W.L. Ho and Teck Chuan Voo.
